What's not to like about Earth Day for a nature loving pantheist like
myself?
Well, for one thing I despise the way it has been politicized, just like
nearly everything else, into a divisive caricature of its original intent.
You would expect that inasmuch as all of us are inhabitants of this planet
and no other, it would be easy for us to agree on things like protecting the
environment and using our natural resources wisely instead of wastefully. You
might think this, but evidently you would be wrong.
I believe that nature veneration is the oldest form of spirituality. For
me, having rid my mind of the "dominion over the earth" theology of my youth,
every day is truly "Earth Day."
The shallow-minded among us ever take the basics of life for granted. Truly
has it been said that "you never miss the water until the well runs dry."
May humankind come to its senses before it's too late.

Indeed. Treating the earth with respect and conserving its resources is just good survival sense.
@ Ahab,
So it seems to me. But those seeking political power are ever willing to sacrifice good sense.
Amen.
@ Zoe,
I thank you for that!
